Cops seeking man over murder of Mahaicony labourer

A 30-year-old man is wanted by the police in connection with the murder of Mahaicony labourer Andy Mohamed, who was stabbed to death last Saturday following a dispute.

In a wanted bulletin issued yesterday, the police said that Marlon Estriado, whose last known address is Perth Village, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD) is wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of Mohamed.

The incident occurred around 7.30pm on August 15th at Branch Road, Mahaicony, ECD.

Stabroek News had reported that Mohamed, 27, popularly known as ‘Randy’ or ‘Gaza’ of New Providence also known as Wash Clothes, Mahaicony, ECD was fatally stabbed by a man, who had uttered threats to him following a dispute last week.

The police in a statement had said that preliminary investigations revealed that Mohamed was assaulted with a bottle by another male and as a result fell to the ground bleeding from a wound to his neck.

Mohamed was picked up and escorted to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital, and died at about 8:45 pm on Saturday whilst receiving treatment.

Annie Kumar, the dead man’s mother had told this newspaper that she heard her son was purchasing a beverage from a roadside stall at Perth, Mahaicony when he was attacked.

Kumar said her son was attacked from the back and after being dealt a blow in his head he was stabbed twice in his neck.
