Le Meridien tennis tourney begins today

The Le Meridian Pegasus Open lawn tennis championships is set to serve off this evening at the hotel’s courts where a number of the country’s top players will be on show.

Philip Squires, who won the 2007 Open men’s singles title is the number one  seed and last years runner’s up Anthony Downes the number two seed.

Downes the 2007 boys’ under 18 champion is seeded number one in that division.

In the men’s 35 over event defending champion Rudy Grant is favoured to defend his title while in the women’s championship, Shelly Daly-Ramdyhan the 2007 champion is seeded number one ahead of Berbician Carol Humphrey.
