Cabinet approves some $221M in contracts

Cabinet has green lighted the spending of some $117 million on the construction of a drainage sluice at Retrieve, Mahaicony Creek Region Five (Mahaica/Berbice).

Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon made the disclosure at his post-cabinet media briefing on Thursday last, at which he also revealed the values on three other contracts in the health and public works sectors.

Cabinet extended its no–objection to a $20.3 million contract for the purchase of one Duplex Fluid Management System for the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Additionally its go-ahead was given for the award of a $34.4 million contract for the purchase of one mobile Asphalt Drum-mix Plant for the works sector. Lot A Third Street Strathspey, East Coast Demerara is to undergo repairs under a $29.5 million contract as well as Lot B Second Street Annandale, East Coast Demerara under a $20.1 million contract, to which cabinet has also given its no–objection.
