A pistol with matching rounds was discovered in the toilet area of an undisclosed city service station on Wednesday night and it is believed that it was left there by an occupant of a car that was searched by the members of a police patrol.
The discovery was made around 11.30 pm after the lawmen and the occupants of the car had left the area.
A police press release said that police recovered an unlicensed .32 pistol and five matching rounds which were found at a service station in Georgetown.
The location was not named in the release and when asked about this police public relations officer Ivelaw Whittaker said “we don’t want to make that public”.
When incidents occur at gas stations, especially armed robbery, the names as well as those of its employees who were attacked and robbed are provided by the police.
According to yesterday’s press release four men went to the service station and two of them went into the mini mart. During this time ranks of a police patrol in the vicinity conducted a search on the motor vehicle.
The release further stated that while the police were searching the vehicle, one of the two men asked the cashier in the mini mart to use the toilet facilities and after the police patrol had left, the four men drove away in their motor vehicle.
The firearm and ammunition were later found in the toilet area and handed over to the police.
Investigations are continuing in this matter.
