Guinness Greatest of de Street…

Another night, another eight matches contested in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) organized Guinness Greatest of De Street Football Tournament, and another large crowd at the National Cultural Centre’s tarmac as the third round of the tourney commenced.

On Saturday evening an enthusiastic crowd saw three draws and five victories with one of the five wins coming by the walk-over route.

A Cordel Duncan double for Festival City recorded in the 17th and 25th minutes, and Daniel Favorite’s 11th minute strike,  cancelled out with interest Broad Street’s Shawn Smith’s double which was scored in the ninth and 12th minutes.

Alexander Village and Alexander Street recorded victories against Holmes Street, Tiger Bay and North East La Penitence with goals coming from Ronson Williams, seventh, Sheldon Garrick, 12th and Lance Browne, 14th minutes respectively.

Durban Street received a walk over from Charles Street.

Kingston’s Emille Gomes in the seventh minute and Fourth Street Alberttown’s Leon Welcome in the 18th minute drew both teams square at the regulation time whistle whilst Leopold Street and Sophia played to a stalemate.

Aubrey Barker Road’s Carl Trutlda and Lloyd Barron in the ninth and 14th minutes cancelled out Dellon Eastman’s and Nelson Pratt’s sixth and 11th minutes goals.

Day two of round three continues tomorrow with eight more games to be contested on the National Cultural Centre’s tarmac.
