Arjune hits half century on rain-ruined day

National opening batsman Krishna Arjune stroked his way to a fashionable 59 and along with Narsingh Deonarine’s 34 and Homchand Pooran’s unbeaten 29  helped to  pilot Travis Dowlin’s XI to 148-3 against Esaun Crandon’s XI at the end of a rain ruined first day of the three-day practice match.

Playing at the Guyana National Stadium Providence,  the fastest drying cricket venue in the Caribbean,  in a game which lost the entire morning session and a further 35 minutes after lunch due to early morning rain, Arjune struck five fours from the 122 balls he faced while batting for 223 minutes.

Deonarine also struck four fours in his innings  while Pooran has touched the boundary board twice so far during his unbeaten innings for his team, in the practice game organized by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) for the senior national Carib Beer team.

Weather permitting, play will commence today, the second day, from 09:30hrs at the same venue.
