According to a press release Hinds, performing the functions of president, said in the light of the recent global financial crisis GAPSO needed to “think outside the box” in determining how Guyana will cope with the fluctuating prices of oil imports and mineral exports. He was speaking at their annual luncheon on Wednesday.

Lt Colonel (ret’d) Gregory Jackson introduced Hinds at the function. Jackson then gave a brief overview of the association’s activities during his first six months as president. This included close collaboration on a survey of the security industry, participation in the drafting of legislation for the industry and a programme of Christmas cheer for the children of Tiger Bay.

The release said CEO of Professional Guard Service Dougal Kirkpatrick gave the vote of thanks. The luncheon was held at the Georgetown Club.
