24 students graduate from Islamic school

Labour minister Manzoor Nadir charged the graduates of the Isa Islamic School to further their education and continue to be productive citizens in his address at the graduation ceremony hosted recently.
According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release Nadir urged the 24 students not to contribute to the negativity pervading the society but to seek help when they encounter challenges. “Be a person who will connect with greater knowledge and development, connect with those who will need your help, with family and with friends,” he said.
He also told them that in the last five years over 3000 students entering secondary schools have dropped out for various reasons. This will cost the government $100,000 per person to provide training so that they can acquire a basic skill in order to provide for themselves he said. He then told the graduates that they have acquired a sound foundation and are now ready to further develop themselves and improve their lives and he urged them to capitalise on the opportunity.

The release said Ridwan Hack was named Best Graduating Student. He earned 10 subjects comprising seven grade ones; inclusive of four distinctions and three grade twos. Zalfa Baksh followed closely on his heels with 10 subjects comprising four grade ones inclusive of one distinction and six grade twos. The school has also done well in Mathematics with a 70% overall average. According to GINA Principal Haseeb Yusuf urged the students to remember the school’s motto: to strive for excellence, knowledge, faith and morality in their endeavours.
