Guyanese Ramgopaul among eight winners of Stanford `Who will Ride’ competition

Sudesh Ramgopaul of Lot 50 F Sheriff Street, Campbellville, was chosen as one of the eight lucky winners of the Stanford Twenty20 ‘Who Will Ride’ Competition.

“I was looking at one of the Twenty20 matches yesterday and I saw my name flash across the screen and I couldn’t believe it. I had never won anything before and although I still couldn’t believe, someone called to confirm and then I was sure that it was me,” Ramgopaul told Stabroek Sport yesterday.

The `Who will Ride’ contest was held in 20 Caribbean territories and participants were required to answer 10 multiple choice questions based on the last tournament on the Stanford Twenty20 website.(www.stanford2020.com).

Ramgopaul said that he had no problem answering the questions since he knew all the answers offhand from watching the inaugural tournament.

“I answered all the questions right, because I knew them out my head and because I watched the last tournament,” he added.

Ramgopaul, along with Suzette Williams of St. Vincent, Angella Calixte of St. Lucia, Stephen Griffith of Barbados, Lynard Henderson of Dominica, Lakeya Abbott of the US Virgin Islands, Tameeka Parasramsingh of Trinidad and Tobago and Stafford Parke of Antigua will receive an all expenses paid trip to Antigua for all of the matches during the final weekend of the 2008 tournament.

The eight winners will each have a chance to win one of eight prizes. Those prizes are two ATV Sport Utility Quads, two motorized scooters, two bicycles, two skateboards.

Ramgopaul said yesterday that he has his eyes on one of the two sports utility vehicles and was confident that he would win one.

Apart from being a devout cricket fan, Ramgopaul is also a regular player of the game and, although he is not a member of any local cricket club, he said that he plays in the National Park every weekend.
