Ganja-for-asthma user gets three years

A 31-year-old man yesterday pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful possession of cannabis when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

On January 31, Francis Edwards had in his possession 24 grams of cannabis sativa.

When asked what he was doing with the illegal substance, Edwards told the magistrate that he uses it for his asthma. “It does help meh with meh asthma,” he explained.

He was sentenced to three years imprisonment and also fined $30,000.
