Spready’s Bakery Under-19 tourney

National Under-19 player Jonathan Foo hit an aggressive 106 to help Albion defeat Gibraltar/Courtland as play continued in the Spready’s Bakery Berbice Under-19 cricket tournament.

Foo blasted 11 fours and four sixes, destroying the Gibraltar/Courtland attack; taking his team Albion to victory by 209 runs. Other outstanding performances came from Sahadeo Somai, 35, Andy Mohan, 37, Oswin Simon 3-53 and Keon Sinclair 2-31.

Police’s Jeron Amsterdam also impressed spectators with his 67, along with Whim’s Kenroy James, 65; Port Mourant’s Mahendra Veersammy, 57; Young Warriors’ Seon Hetemeyer, 53 and Tucber Park’s Keon De Jesus 59 not-out. Additionally, bowlers Marvin Naidoo (4-37), Phillip Edwards (7-22), Bharrat Singh (5-17), Malvern Williams (6-7) and George Archibald who took 5-19 gave outstanding performances. Meanwhile, Gibraltar/Courtland scored 58 all-out in 13 overs.

At Edinburgh, Tucber Park defeated the home team by two wickets. The scores were Edinburgh 123 all-out in 25.5 overs. Clive Barron scored 33, Joemal La Fleur 2-15 and Mark Jackman 2 -25. The victors scored 124 for 8 in 28.2 overs with Shaun Baksh scoring 27, De Jesus 20 and Travis Peters 2-39.

At Paradise, the home team went down to Blairmont by 26 runs. Blairmont made 87 in 18.1 overs. Wazid Suban scored 15 and Krishna Persaud 22, D. Wilson and L. Noble made 3-22 each. Meanwhile, Paradise scored 61 all-out in 13.4 overs. Phillip Edwards scored 7- 22 and Sudesh Mohan 3-3.

At Tain, Kildonan defeated the home team by 71 runs. The winners made 163 in 41 overs. Singh secured 40, Navindra Ramnarine 20 and D. Bachan 4-22. Tain scored 92 all-out in 23.1 overs. Extras top-scored with 46. Singh 5-17 and Hemraj Mankarran 3-9.

Additionally, the Police defeated Cathedral Shalom by 306 runs at Edinburgh. Police scored 330 in 39 overs. Jeron Amsterdam 67, Ravi Ramkumar 46, Royden Grant and Gerish Deeges 40 each. Sohan Mangra 3-20 and Omesh Singh 3-37. Cathedral Shalom had 24 all-out, Williams 6-7 and Joel Amsterdam 3-5.

Rainbow Generation defeated the Paradise Invaders by 19 runs at Paradise. The team scored 116 in 27 overs. Quincy George 30, D. Wilson 5-12 and L. Noble 3-25. Paradise had 97 all-out in 15.4 overs, Archibald 5-19 and G. George 4-16.

At Blairmont the Young Achievers defeated the home team by 98 runs. Achievers had 187 in 37 overs. Sherwyn McPherson, 35 and Asif Khan 36. Ranel Frank got 3 for 22. Blairmont had 89 all-out in 19 overs. Frank scored 25 and Keyron Fraser 4 for 11.

At Woodley Park, Bath Aditya defeated the home team by 86 runs. The team had 149 all-out in 32 overs with Lakeram Chetram 30 and Mark Dindial 28. Romil Prasad had 3-11. Woodley Park had 63 all-out in 17.1 overs. Ganesh Gossai 30 and Akram Rahaman, 3-32.

At Port Mourant, Whim defeated Port Mourant ‘B’ by 6 runs. Whim scored 178-6 in 35 overs. James had 65, Gavin Ragnauth 22 and Sanjay Bheemsingh 3-29. Port Mourant ‘B’ had 172 all-out in 35 overs where Veersammy scored 57, Keragd Ramdat 30 and Lakram Samaroo 2-37.

Port Mourant ‘A’ defeated Whim by 7 wickets. Whim scored 133 in 31 overs James 37, George Hughes 3-44, Andrea Khan 3-26. Port Mourant ‘A’ 134-3 in 31.5 overs. C Arjune had 30 not-out, Krishna Mahabali had 24 not-out.

At Cumberland, Tucber Park defeated Young Warriors by 53 runs. Tucber Park had 231-9 in 50 overs. La Fleur had 47, Kevin Leitch, 39, De Jesus 59 not-out and Linden Austin 3-35. Young Warriors had 179 all-out in 44.2 overs. Hetemeyer scored 52, Mark Beaton, 44; Tellon Carmichael 3 for 26 and J Odle 2-45.
