West Berbice to clash with Lower Corentyne

…as Diamond Life cricket bowls off

Action in the Diamond Life and General Insurance Company Limited (DLGIC) Under-19 Inter-zone tournament starts today with two matches at the Blairmont Community Centre (BCC) and Port Mourant grounds respectively.

At the BCC, West Berbice and Lower Corentyne will go at each other in the two-day match.

Corentyne led by the experienced and hard-hitting national Under-19 all-rounder Jonathan Foo will start as favourites, having a batting line-up led by Foo with support from vice captain Eon Hooper, Harrinarine Chattergoon, Dominic Ricky, Manoj Pooranauth and Naresh Mahadeo.

Their bowling would be in the hands of medium pacers Sharmendra Hardial and Terrence Madramootoo with support of left arm spinner Naresh Mahadeo and off spinners Sahadeo Somai and Hemant Rabindradat.

West Berbice will depend heavily on skipper Asif Khan, vice captain Sherwin Mc Pherson, Raffel Estriado, Brentnol Woolford and Daneshwar Ramkissoon to put up a good score, while their bowling would be led by national Under-19 fast bowler Keron Fraser and includes medium pacers Raun Johnson and Jermaine Nicholson.

The spin attack will feature off spinner Asif Khan and Dharmendra Prashad with leg spinner Wazid Subhan.

In the other match, New Amsterdam/Canje and Upper Corentyne would meet at the Port Mourant ground.

NA/Canje will be led by another national Under-19 all rounder in Seon Hetmyer with Trinson Carmichael as his deputy, whilst national Under-19 wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble and Berbice all rounder Alex Amsterdam are the men in charge of Upper Corentyne.

All teams are asked to be at the respective grounds at 9.30 am for the game which is scheduled to commence at 11 am each day.
