Police visit van Beek’s home as probe continues

As police continue their investigations into the Maria van Beek shooting, ranks yesterday visited her home seeking further details that could lead to a breakthrough in the case.

Though the two suspects in the matter have been released, top police officials said they are still working assiduously to locate the perpetrators of the brazen crime.

One of the suspects was held hours after the incident at a Georgetown location while the other was arrested on Sunday.

They were both released on station bail after they were not identified during an identification parade held on Monday.

The motorcycle that the perpetrators escaped on has not been found and no further details have been provided.
Van Beek, the judicial manager of the ailing insurance company CLICO, was on her way to work when the shooting occurred last Thursday.

According to reports, she was stuck in a long line of traffic at the junction of Lombard and Leopold streets during a heavy downpour when a gunman walked up to her vehicle and fired a single shot through the driver’s side window. He jumped on a waiting motorcycle parked on Leopold Street and fled.
