NEW YORK, (Reuters) – Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry has won the Sixth Man Award given to the best player in a reserve role, the NBA said yesterday.
The 31-year-old received 576 out of a possible 605 points, including 111 of 121 first-place votes, from a panel of journalists.
A sixth man in 63 out of 74 games played this season, Terry averaged 19.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists for the Mavericks.
Denver Nuggets guard JR Smith finished a distant second on 155 points followed by Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks with 113.
Players had to have come off the bench in more games than they started to be eligible for the award.
