Guyanese Jerome helps Pittsburgh draw in USL

RICHMOND, Virginia, CMC – Guyanese striker Randolph `Black head’ Jerome struck a late first-half goal that helped Pittsburgh Riverhounds draw 1-1 with Richmond Kickers in the United Soccer Leagues (USL) Second Division on Saturday night.

Jerome struck from close range on a rebound, four minutes after Joey Worthen had given Richmond the lead at the University of Richmond Stadium.

Worthen met a good cross in the 36th minute to score but Jerome evened the game in the 40th minute.

Jerome previously represented several clubs in Trinidad and Tobago, including W Connection, North East Stars and Starworld Strikers — and also had a stint in the USL with Cleveland City Stars.

In other matches, Cleveland, with Haiti international Ricardo Pierre-Louis, lost 3-0 to Austin Aztex, the Vancouver Whitecaps, with Vincentian veteran Wesley Charles, beat Portland Timbers 1-0, and Jamaican Gary Brooks assisted on two goals for Real Maryland Monarchs to defeat the Bermuda Hogges 3-2.
