A labourer accused of stealing a gold chain was yesterday placed on $20,000 bail when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on April 30 at Georgetown, Marvin Pilley, 33, of 2 A Queen Street South Cummingsburg stole a gold chain valued $30,000 from Roxanne Calendar.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Munilall Seetaram objected to bail on the grounds that if released, there is a likelihood of Pilley committing the offence again. Munilall further stated that the chain was recovered on Pilley’s person.
However, Pilley was placed on $20,000 bail and has to return to court on June 2.
