Guyanese have a right to know the nature of the Opposition Leader’s illness

Dear Editor,
I am flabbergasted at the posture of Ms Fidela Corbin, a modern-day lawyer who was trained in the post-Cold War days when the state of our leaders ought not to be a closeted matter.

It’s left to be seen whether Ms Corbin would have reacted in the same manner if this had been the President, a former PPP President, or a government minister in any party other than the PNC.

Mr Corbin is the constitutional office holder of Leader of Opposition (Shadow President) and by right, Guyanese need to know the nature of his illness just as in those countries which we all agree are open and transparent democracies. On that note, since Ms Corbin appears to have become the spokesman on Mr Corbin’s health, can she please say whether the Comrade Leader has had a stent inserted or re-inserted (the previous one having been blocked resulting in him having to be medivaced) into the artery of his heart and whether he has lost a signficant portion of his gall-bladder.
Yours faithfully,
M Alphonso
