Guard who stole bicycle wanted to borrow it for two days – court told

An RK’s security guard on Friday pleaded guilty to the charge of simple larceny when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

On May 25 at Georgetown, Stelvin Smith of 7 Broad Street, Charlestown stole one pedal cycle valued $7,000, the property of Guydanand Seecharan.

When given an opportunity to respond, the defendant told the court that  he did  pick up the bicycle but he just wanted to borrow it for two days.

He was ordered to pay a fine of $25,000 or be sentenced to nine months imprisonment.
