Guyana set for inaugural Pan American Junior Badminton C/ships

The Guyana Badminton Association will attend the XVIII Pan American Junior Championships to be held in Puerto Rico from August 17 to 23 says president of the Guyana Badminton Association Gokarn Ramdhani.

According to Ramdhani this will be the first time Guyana will take part at the event where they will compete along with Pan American countries Aruba, Argentina, Mexico, Barbados, Jamaica, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Puerto Rico Cayman Islands, Panama, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Curacao, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Uruguay, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States, Suriname, St. Lucia, Peru and Honduras.

Ramdhani told Stabroek Sport that he was confident that the five member team would equip itself well as the team was practicing on a daily basis.

“We have been doing very well in the Caribbean championships but we expect the standard to be a little higher. They have been training hard so you could never tell.”

Guyana will be represented in  the U11, U13, U15 and U17 categories. The respective age group champions are Nicholas Ali, Avian Rodrigues, Narayan Ramdhani, Andrew Peroune and Priyanna Ramdhani.
