Guinness Futsal Competition

Tonight the inaugural Futsal champions will be crowned when Flamingo and Uprising Football Clubs clash for top honours in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Guinness Futsal Competition at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Both teams boast strong, fit squads which so far have displayed  the best coordination in the tournament and will be a crucial aspect in tonight’s game with the top prize of $300,000 up for grabs while the loser receives $150,000.

Fruta Conquerors will face Pele FC in the third place showdown where the winner will pocket $75,000 while the fourth place finisher will have to settle for $50,000.

Action commences at 7:00 pm with five exhibition games – Exclusive Styles versus America Street, Guinness Bar versus Sweet Point, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport versus Media, Upper Level versus Barber Shack and North East La Penetance versus Albouystown.

Pele lost to Flamingo in the semi-final on Wednesday night in an electrifying battle that ended 6-5 while Uprising comfortably entered the final by defeating Fruta Conquerors 8–5.

Flamingo’s Leon Yaw has had a terrific tournament so far and enters the final as the tournament’s leading goal scorer after  producing goals in every encounter played. He will now be looking for his usual support from his teammates to ensure a shot at victory.
Meanwhile, Uprising’s Omali Nassey who scored a helmet trick against Fruta Conquerors in the other semi and has been constantly making his mark on the tournament game by game is expected to cause some discomfort in the opposition’s camp with help from his squad.
