Race of Champions Horse Meet

Stolen Money created a major upset at the Jumbo Jet Race of Champions meet at the Rising Sun Turf Club in West Coast Berbice yesterday, defeating 2023 Horse of the Year victor Spankhurst in a thrilling finish.

Stolen Money, who was piloted by jockey Ronaldo Appadu, prevailed over the dominant Spankhurst, outsprinting his foe, who eventually finished third, on the homestretch of the one-mile feature event to walk away with the top prize of $2,000,000 and the championship trophy. John Bull finished in the runner-up position.

Meanwhile, in the K-Class and lower races, Rescue took the top spot ahead of Get Them Bobby and Money Times.

In the I-Class, J-Class, and West Indian-bred three-year-old maidens, Sex Appeal emerged victorious, while Hayley and Dan Star ended in second and third, respectively.

Princess Samiah won the L-Class and J3 first-time starter’s race, defeating Perfect Dream, Kiss, and 3D Movie, who ended up in second, third, and fourth place, respectively.

In race four, Creemore secured the victory, relegating Converted, American Traveller, and Looking to Heaven to the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.

In the H-Class encounter, Theory of Colours prevailed, with Supremacy and Smooth Sailing rounding out the top three in that order.

Meanwhile, Country Rock won the penultimate race of the card, defeating Bin Laden, She’s a Monica, and Easy Jet, who ended up in second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. The next race on the calendar is pencilled for May 26th at the Port Mourant Turf Club at the Jumbo Jet Race of Champions
