KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Prime Minister Bruce Golding has described sprint sensation Usain Bolt’s latest achievement as extraterrestrial. Speaking after Bolt shattered his own world record en route to clocking 9.58 seconds to win the 100 metres at the World Championships on Sunday, Golding said the 22-year-old had “performed like he was from outer space.” This is another proud moment for Jamaica, another demonstration that we can succeed at whatever we put our hearts to,” Golding said.
“Usain Bolt is a testimony to what successes we can achieve through discipline and hard work.” Golding called Bolt shortly after the finish of the race in Berlin to congratulate him on his performance.
When asked how much faster he could run, Bolt told the Jamaican leader: “I’m coming home to work on it.”
Golding also praised Asafa Powell who powered his way to third in a time of 9.84 seconds, finishing behind the second placed American Tyson Gay.
