If one is to take a casual look around Guyana one will notice that we have two versions of traffic signs requiring us to stop.
Usually these signs appear at intersections. I have a problem with the co-use of these signs because as far as I am aware the circular sign is what is stipulated in the road traffic regulations, while the octagon sign is not.
Apparently, the latter has become the international norm in many developed countries in Europe and North America. If we are to adopt this international standard then we ought to formally amend our road traffic regulations to reflect the use of the octagon sign.
I am sure this will find favour with all parliamentary parties resulting in a speedy passage through parliament. Members of Parliament should show some efficiency and correct this situation expeditiously.
