There should be a shrine in memory of those who died at Jonestown

Dear Editor,
In addition to the Cubana Monument which the SN reported on, I will once again call for the erection of a shrine to the 908 lives lost on November 18, 1978, at Jonestown.

I am suggesting that the religious bodies of Guyana take a stance and organise a memorial service some time in November in consultation with the US Embassy and the tourism fraternity.

908 candles could also be lit during the service in remembrance of those who died, and a collection taken and placed in a special fund which could eventually be used to offset the expenses of erecting a shrine some time in the near future.

Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
