Man stabbed at football game

A man who was stabbed in the region of his right rib cage was last evening admitted a patient to the accident and emergency unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

Details of the incident remained sketchy though hospital sources say that the man identified only as “Copper” was at a community football game in Plaisance on the East Coast of Demerara when he was attacked and stabbed.

The seriousness of the man’s condition could not determined, he was however receiving medical attention when this newspaper arrived at the GPH at 10:00 pm.

Up to press time, neither the hospital nor the police had issued a statement on the release.
