Line and Length Network, NCN to provide commentary for regional one-dayers

Line and Length Network in collaboration with the National Communications Network (NCN) announced yesterday that they will be providing commentary for every match of the WICB President’s Cup One Day Tournament which bowls off today at 9:15am at various venues. Defending champions Trinidad and Tobago goes head to head with Jamaica at the National Stadium; Guyana clashes with Leeward Islands at the Enmore Community Centre Ground; Windward Islands will meet Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) at the Everest Cricket Ground and Barbados will challenge the WI U-19 team at Bourda. According to Ali the organizers are planning to induce spectators to attend the matches and as such the semi-finals and final will be played under lights.

Captain of the host team, Ramnaresh Sarwan, said that he expects the competition to be a tough one since the teams all appeared very strong and their key players seemed in good form.

Sarwan, though, expressed his disappointment at the venue being unprepared when his team showed up for practice yesterday morning.

Also present were representatives of NCN, L&L Network, GCB, members of the WICB, tournament umpires, commentators and scorers.

L&L Network’s Andrew Mason said  historic step was being taken to provide commentary for all four matches per day but he declared that was a good move for the tournament.

“Last year over 95% of the commentators for the tournament were Guyanese and we are pleased with the advancement since then,” said Mason adding …“hence, we are going to be using that Guyanese talent again along with the great Curtly Ambrose and Fazeer  Mohammed who will be here to also do commentary.”
