Ravens, Pacesetters register wins in U-23 basketball league

The Ravens and Pacesetters recorded comfortable wins when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association’s (GABA) U-23 Men’s League continued on Saturday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

The Ravens crushed Leonora 84-36. Atilla Williamson led the rout with 15 points, while Alroy Nurse and Quon Jackman supported her with 13 and 12 points, respectively. For the loser, Shaquan Archer netted 13 points.

The contest was effectively over at the conclusion of the first half. The Ravens, who stormed to a 29-5 lead at the end of the first period, entered the halftime interval ahead at 43-16.

Their sizable lead was further extended in the third period, as the Ravens outscored their opponent 22-12 to enter the final stanza in control at 65-28. The eventual outcome was then sealed as the Ravens outshot Leonora 19-8.

Meanwhile, Pacesetters dismissed Caimans 76–60. Anthony Vasconcellos and Neon Dover scored 17 points, respectively. Chipping in with 13 points was Khayeel King. For the loser, Quivon Bourne netted 23 points, while Shamar Morris and Delmar Grant netted 11 and 10 points apiece.

Trailing 11-10 at the end of the first period, the Pacesetters seized control of the contest as they outscored the Caimans 22-7 to enter halftime ahead at 32-18. Caimans marginally reduced the deficit in the third stanza, netting 27 points while restricting Pacesetters to 21 points to trail 45-53.

However, any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished as Pacesetters out-hustled Caimans 23-15 to secure the win.
