The court heard that on Friday, November 6 Azim Khan of Number 72 Village, Corentyne reportedly murdered 43-year-old Heerawattie Tekram, 43.

He was not required to plead to the indictable offence. He is scheduled to return to court on November 26 for report.

Tekram’s body was discovered face down by her two daughters around 5:45 am with chops on her throat, face, neck, back and head. Khan who was employed with the Skeldon Estate had already left for the backdam when the discovery was made.

Her elder daughter, Chitrawattie had said that her mother had gotten up early as usual that morning to prepare her father’s lunch on the fireside in the yard to take to work.

Chitrawattie said that she and her sister were awake but lying on the bed when they heard a scream. They quickly rushed outside to their front veranda and there they saw their mother lying on the ground bleeding.
They began screaming and crying, alerting an aunt.
