Paul Ramlakhan of Seaforth Street, Campbell-ville,  pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful wounding when Acting Chief Magis-trate Melissa Robertson read it to him. He admitted that on November 8 at his Campbellville home he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Randy Ramlakhan.

Paul had stated that on the day of the incident “he (Randy) dey bring three ah he friends fuh beat me and rob me ah $5,000 so I do wah I had to do fuh represent myself.”

He explained that after he was beaten and robbed by the three men, he confronted his nephew who started to argue with him.
He said that he and his nephew ended up in a scuffle and he hit Randy in  his head with a cutlass that he had with him. However, Paul told the court that he did not wish to waste the court’s time by continuously coming to court and pleaded guilty to the charge. He asked that the magistrate show leniency in her sentencing. Meanwhile, Prosecutor Kevin London stated that on the day in question Paul had confronted Randy while he was at his gate about a recent problem.

He said that Paul subsequently dealt Randy a chop to his head with a cutlass.
He went on to say that Randy later summoned a police mobile patrol that was in the area and Paul was then arrested and charged for the offence.
