Athletes thirst quenched


-Banks DIH Ltd. presents beverages, bottled water to  organizers of National Schools Athletics, Cycling and Swimming C/ships

Local beverage giants Banks DIH Ltd., yesterday made a sizeable donation of beverages and bottled water to the organizers of the 49th National Schools Athletics, Cycling and Swimming championships at Albion in Berbice.

Officials of the company presented close to $1/4 million in stocks to the organizers of the championships and provided the athletes with Malta Wednesday and yesterday.

Supervisor of Banks DIH Ltd., Berbice branch, Nandram Basdeo, presented the items to acting president of the Guyana Teachers Union (GTU) Genevieve Allen at a simple presentation ceremony yesterday at the Albion Sports Complex ground. Allen expressed gratitude to the beverage company for its timely assistance.

Basdeo said Banks was pleased to be associated with the national Schools’ event adding that the sampling of the Malta energy beverages by the athletes received an overwhelming response.

Banks DIH Ltd. Communications Manager Troy Peters, said the athletes were energized judging from some outstanding performances during the day’s programme. Also present at the ceremony were officials of the organizing committee of the championships including Carl Brandon of the Ministry of Culture, Allison Rawlins of the Ministry of Education and Alfa Mohamed of Berbice.
