Mahaicony school gets home economics equipment

The Human Services Ministry recently donated several pieces of equipment to the Home Economics Department of the Mahaicony Secondary School.

Minister of Human Services and Social Security Priya Manickchand handed over the items during a visit to Region Five (Mahaica/Berbice), a press release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said. The equipment included gas stoves, blenders, microwaves, dishes and pans. The minister had also witnessed the signing of contracts for the construction of a Homeless Shelter at Onverwagt.

Manickchand urged the students to take care of the equipment in order that other students can benefit. She pointed out that the donation will help the students to do well in related fields of study.

Meanwhile, Home Economics Teacher Pamela Europe said she was grateful for the equipment as it will greatly assist the students in completing their classwork. She said too the donation is timely as the students are preparing to sit exams. GINA said the students expressed joy at receiving the new pieces of equipment which they said will ensure that they do better at their exams.
