$6.6M stolen from car at Parika

Unknown persons broken into a car at Parika, East Bank Essequibo yesterday and stole $6.6M that a North West District businessman had earlier withdrawn from a bank.

Police in a press release yesterday said that around 10:30 am, the businessman from Port Kaituma withdrew a sum of money from a commercial bank at Parika and placed a bag with $6.6M in his motor car which he locked before entering a restaurant.

Later, when he went to his vehicle, the businessman discovered that it had been broken into and the money was missing.

Investigations are continuing.
