Nature school refurbished with $3.7M Canada grant

The National Parks Commission has refurbished its Nature School at the Zoological Park with a $3.7M grant from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

In a simple handing over ceremony yesterday, Canadian High Commissioner Francois Montour expressed his delight at being a part of the project and called the Nature School a fantastic facility.

He went on to encourage the children who were present to do their part in preserving the environment and pledged his country’s support as far as possible in working with the school.

The grant which was made possible through CIDA’s Canada Fund for Local Initiatives saw the expansion of the Nature School to accommodate more children as well as expand the library/reading room and includes a sick bay.

This is the second grant to the education and awareness programme of the Zoological Park. The first was the construction of the building in 1992.
