Gov’t agency found jobs for 2,000 – Nadir

Government’s job placement agency found employment for more than 2000 persons over the year, Labour Minister Manzoor Nadir has revealed.

In a statement yesterday  the ministry quoted Nadir as saying that  breaking the 2000 mark has much significance and shows that the economy has been performing and that persons are placing much confidence in the services the agency offers.

The Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency found the majority of the jobs in the private sector while job seekers came from all sectors and sections of the society. This year, out of the 2673 persons who registered, 2006 were placed in jobs. Last year it managed to place 1650 persons from a total of 2342 registrants. Registration figures for 2007 were the same as 2008 but in that year 1454 were placed.

The lowest amount of placements by the agency came in 2001 when out of 1426 registrants only 679 were placed.

However, this year’s results have been attributed to the hard work of the staff of the agency and the positive responses to the media and outreach campaigns during the part two years
