Men remanded over gold robbery

Two men were refused bail for robbery under arms by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton when they appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Richard Blackman and Sycil Craigon are alleged to have robbed Winana Silva of a Brazilian passport, seven pennyweights of raw gold, $182,000 in cash and a Brazilian identification card, totalling $222,000 in value, on December 15 in the Georgetown Magisterial District.

Prosecutor in the case Shellon Daniels told the court that on the day of the robbery one of the men was driving a car and the other went into Silva’s yard, pointed the gun at her and robbed her and fled the scene.

Both men were refused bail and are to return to court on December 21.
