Alleged ‘Fineman’ harbourer bail plea refused

Royston Waldron of Friendship, East Bank Demerara reappeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, when the preliminary inquiry (PI) into charges of robbery under arms and harbouring wanted man Rondel ‘Fineman’ Rawlins and others continued.

It was alleged that on 16 June 2008 at Goat Farm, Waldron while armed with a dangerous weapon, robbed Anette Hunte of one Nokia cell phone valued $5,000 and on the same day while at Goat Farm knowingly harboured Rawlins, Cecil Simon Ramcharran aka ‘Uncle’ or ‘Magi’ and Robin Chung aka ‘Chung boy’. The three were wanted for murder.

Waldron was said to have been a part of the gang which hijacked the Aroaima- Linden minibus.

The police prosecutor presented its third witness in the matter, Assistant Superintendant of Police Julius Wright on Tuesday.

Waldron, who is unrepresented, pleaded for bail on the ground that he was incarcerated for 13 months and the prosecution had only presented three witnesses in the matter. Bail was denied and he is to return to court on 15 July to continue his cross-examination of the witness.
