In a press statement yesterday police said that at about 2.25 pm on Wednesday two men entered a West Demerara business place and enquired about PVC pipes from the owner. During this, police said, one of the men pulled out a firearm and confronted the businessman.
However, the businessman managed to run into his store and used his licensed firearm to discharge a round at the men. The two men ran to a waiting motor car which had three other men inside and escaped.
Acting quickly after information was received about the attempted felony police established a roadblock and were able to intercept the vehicle.
Three men were in the vehicle when it was stopped at the roadblock on Wednesday. They have been arrested and the motor vehicle detained as the investigations continue.
