Charges against Dr Ramsahoye, ex-cop dropped

When the matters were called before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court both of the defendants were present.

The VC Girdharry Surujdin went into the witness box and swore that he did not wish to offer evidence in the proceedings. The magistrate subsequently discharged the indictable charge of abduction and dismissed the assault charge.

When the matter was first called in court last September it was indicated that the VC did not wish to proceed. The presiding magistrate Haymant Ramdhani, placed the defendants on $1M bail before adjourning the case.

When the case was called again, it was adjourned to yesterday after the VC was a no show.

Ramsahoye and Marcus were slapped with the charges after it was alleged that they held Surujdin against his will and assaulted him after a business deal reportedly worth $10 million fell through.

They appeared before Magistrate Ramdhani at the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court and were granted bail of $1 million each on the indictable charge of abduction and $50,000 on the charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, to which they pleaded not guilty.
