Guyanese found guilty of money laundering in North Dakota court

The newspaper reported yesterday that federal court jurors were deciding whether Neville Solomon should repay the more than US$2 million he cheated investors of.

It was reported that the jurors convicted Solomon on three counts of money laundering and one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Last May Solomon, 67, was arrested in neighbouring Trinidad and later extradited to the US.

Solomon was found guilty of three counts of concealing proceeds of crime (money laundering), each at a value of US$50,000, between December 14, 2001 and February 14, 2002 in the US.

He also faces the charge of conspiring with another person to defraud the United States Treasury of over US$2 million
