Divisional Commander David Ramnarine told Stabroek News yesterday that the man was held in connection with the theft of a bicycle from a resident in Shulinab on Wednesday afternoon.
Ramnarine stated that ranks of the Guyana Police Force have since learnt that the man is wanted for the murder of a policeman in Brazil.
It is unclear when the man will be handed over to Brazilian authorities.
