Some appointees operate with political directives instead of those in keeping with the rules

I refer to a letter in SN of March 6 captioned ‘There is no need for conflict over control in the Region 4 RDC’ by Kwame McCoy.

I am not surprised by Mr McCoy’s allegations, because indeed there should be no conflict regarding control. However, because some persons placed in position by the current administration are operating in accordance with political directives instead of directives in keeping with the rules and regulations governing such a position, when they fail, they try to play the blame game. Region 4’s administration is an example and Mr McCoy should be ashamed of himself, because he has been very vocal in defence of Mr Shafdar Ali, the REO under investigation, whenever he is challenged at statutory meetings. He went so far as to try to table a motion in Mr Ali’s favour after a matter in court brought by the chairman Mr Corlette was thrown out, but his attempt was disallowed.  He behaved in a most disrespectful manner causing the meeting to be disrupted. Mr McCoy even presented a motion that was (1) not circulated in the prescribed time and (2) not seconded. Mr McCoy has shown himself to be disrespectful to the entire regional council and administration. Is that why he has been placed on the Commission for the Rights of the Child – to teach our children to be unmannerly and disrespectful?

Yours faithfully,
L Glasgow
Councillor
Region 4
