Diamond Insurance Inter-Association U-19 cricket competition officially launched

Yesterday in the board room of Diamond Fire and General Insurance Company  the second annual Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) organized Inter-Association Under-19 Competition was officially launched

General Manager of Diamond Fire and General Insurance Company, Tara Chandra (2nd L) hands over the sponsorship cheque and championship trophy to vice president of the BCB David Black as the company’s Christopher Williams (L) and BCB marketing consultant, Bish Panday (R) look on.

A total of $350,000 was pumped into the staging of the tournament which  bowls off in April and which will include teams from West Berbice, New Amsterdam/Canje, Lower Corentyne and Central/Upper Corentyne.

General Manager of the company, Tara Chandra, said: “We at Diamond Insurance are very pleased to continue this sponsorship of the Inter-Association U-19 Cricket Competition in Berbice. As I indicated when this competition was launched last year that Diamond Insurance was conscious of the role it must play in the community and we feel that healthy sporting activities and sporting competitions should be encouraged.”
“We are also very encouraged by the way the Berbice Cricket Board has been conducting its business and we are pleased to partner with them in this competition,” Chandra added. With the introduction the PRO of the BCB, Hilbert Foster, disclosed that the tournament from the previous year was a huge success and numerous cricketing talents were unearthed and everyone knows Berbice went on to completely dominate the Inter County level. Foster stated that the BCB will use this tournament to select the team for the upcoming inter  tournament and they are confident that like last year, the county is on the move again.

In closing, he expressed profound gratitude to the Directo, Managers and Staff of the company on behalf of the BCB for once again coming on board as the sponsor.
