The allegation is that on August 9, 2009, at East Ruimveldt, Cecil Smith, 35, had carnal knowledge of a female without her consent and will. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge of carnal knowledge when it was read to him.
The matter was called to the bench and a lengthy discussion ensued. At one point, the facts of the case proved to be too much for the social worker present as she tried to control her tears.
Smith was later remanded to prison until May 3.
