No suspect held in Princes Street shooting

A man is assisting the police with their investigation into Tuesday’s Princes Street shooting incident but he is not in police custody and is not a suspect.

Crime Chief Seelall Persaud told Stabroek News yesterday that a news report in yesterday’s edition was erroneous as no one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

He said that the police are continuing investigations.

This newspaper understands that the man may have some information that could assist the police.

Up to press time last evening, the police were still looking for the two passengers involved in the bizarre shooting which     left 37-year-old Lamaha Gardens resident Shawn Dummett nursing two gunshot wounds to the chest and one to the abdomen.

Dummett underwent emergency surgery is still hospitalized and his condition listed as serious.

At around 2.30 pm, Dummett was driving motor car PLL 3474 with two other men in the vehicle when he suddenly ran out of the vehicle.

He was pursued by the two men who discharged shots at him, hitting him to his chest and abdomen, after which they escaped.
