Highway trucker fined for trailer without tail-lights

A truck driver was fined $20,000 with an alternative of one week in prison for hauling a trailer without tail-lights along the Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

Frank Hugh was arrested on Monday night for driving motor-lorry GMM 2265 with trailer TMM 2302 attached and failing to carry two lamps to the rear showing red lights visible from a reasonable distance.

He pleaded guilty when he appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Christianburg Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charge.

He told the court that he works as a driver for Demerara Timbers Limited and the fuse for the light had blown, owing to the long distance he was driving.
