Cop remanded on robbery, possession of cocaine charges

A policeman and another man were yesterday charged with robbery and possession of cocaine.

Police constable Kellon Kingston, 23, of Lot 33, Rosignol Public Road and Elroy Lancaster, 30, of Lot 57 Stanleytown New Amsterdam were both remanded yesterday by Magistrate Nigel Hawke.  The two men were allegedly found with stolen items and the narcotic at a police road block.

Kingston was an occupant of the car, HA 8162, which was being driven by Lancaster when it was intercepted. Two other passengers were also in the vehicle as well.

Police had received a report of the robbery of Madhumatie Cush, of Kingston Corriverton. Cush was relieved of $40,000 and a pair of artificial bangles worth $5,000. Police set up a roadblock at Whim and a search was conducted on the car, resulting in the discovery of the stolen items and the cocaine.
