Wismar couple assaulted each other – court hears

Magistrate Ann McLennan remanded a One Mile Extension man and placed his reputed wife on $5,000 bail after they were cross-charged for assaulting each other, resulting in bodily harm.

Coleen Joseph and Midmon Longhorn of 11 One Mile Extension, Wismar, appeared before the  Christianburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday to answer to the charge of assault causing bodily harm.

It is alleged that last Friday at lot 11 One Mile Extension the couple unlawfully assaulted each other so as to cause each other bodily harm.

Medical documents presented to  the presiding magistrate indicated that the two sustained injuries due to the confrontation.

Prosecutor Naught had a no-bail objection for Joseph but he objected to bail for Longhorn, stating that he has no fixed address. He was put out of the 11 One Mile Extension house after the confrontation. However Longhorn who is a porter at the Linden Hospital pleaded with the magistrate not to send him to prison, noting that it can put his job in jeopardy.

Despite Longhorn’s plea he was remanded to prison while 33-year-old Joseph was placed on $5,000 bail.

The two are expected to return to court on July 27 for trial.
