Baker put on peace bond after drunken misadventure

A baker who was charged with loitering was placed on a bond to keep the peace by acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday.

George Khan, 33 of 91 Second Street, Alexander Village pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on June 1 at Church Street, he was found loitering and could not give a satisfactory account of himself.

Khan, a baker at Yong’s Bakery said that he was drunk after consuming some vodka.  He said he was walking along the road when he became thirsty and was looking for a drink of water.  He ended up in the compound of the Brazilian Embassy and was only there to try to get water from a pipe. He added that the Embassy’s guard saw him and came out, then inflicted a beating on him before calling the police.

When he was released on a bond, Khan said: “I tekkin a break from vodka.”
