The history of the Cinderella county should be recorded

Dear Editor,

I am a born Essequibian.  I am over 60 years old, and recently read of the problems with the Supenaam ferry stelling. In my schooldays I was taught that Supenaam was only the waterway and where the stelling was constructed is in the village of Good Hope.  If I am wrong, then will someone who has a connection with this village correct me?  If I am not wrong too, there was a sawmill right at the roadside where the stelling is which went by the name of ‘Good Hope Sawmills.’ If I am right, will the NDC (Pomona/Good Hope), have the history of this area properly recorded?

As a child growing up, I was also told that the first ferry stelling was in the village of Aurora, so in what year was the Adventure ferry stelling commissioned, and for how many years was it in existence? In addition, what was the reason for its removal, since it was at a central point of the Essequibo Coast?

Will the roadway from Suddie to Good Hope be widened, and will traffic cops be on patrol day and night to avoid accidents in this area?

Editor, I am writing because our future generation must be given some history of this region. It is time Cinderella had her history recorded.

Yours faithfully,
