Tarrus Riley for anti-domestic violence event today

Today, from 16:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs at the National Park, Wildfire Entertainment (WE) will host an event for school children to help raise awareness of the fight against domestic violence and popular Jamaican singer Tarrus Riley, who is here for the Temperature concert will be featured.

“We have realized that recently domestic violence cases have been on the rise and we decided to use our influence to assist in this fight,” WE CEO Jonathan Beepat said in a press release issued yesterday. “We believe men and women are like the wings of a bird, without one wing the bird cannot soar to greater heights. Domestic violence cripples us and we are saying stop domestic abuse!”

It is well known in entertainment circles that Tarrus Riley is an outspoken advocate against domestic violence. In one of his more recent hits “Cut it Off”, he urges abused women to end their relationships with their abusers.

WE said today’s event is free, targets school children and is the promotion group’s way of giving back.

Meanwhile, the release said, Gyptian, the other artiste billed to perform, will arrive in Guyana tomorrow as he is performing in St Maarten tonight. The release said tight security would be in place for tomorrow’s show adding that the National Park was the ideal venue since it was the only one with a hard surface – a necessity given the current rainy season. Tickets for the show are on sale at $2,500 each at Beepat’s, Medicare Pharmacy, White Castle Fish Shop, Giftland Officemax and Nanda’s Boutique.  WE asked patrons to note that the “tickets have a misprint; the venue on the ticket says Thirst Park, but the event will be held at the National Park.”

WE urges persons to get their tickets early as the gate price will be $3,000.
